Meet Iris, an adorable Chihuahua/Poodle mix who started attending Red Fern’s Enrichment Daycare when she was just six months old.

Like many puppies, Iris had energy to spare. At home, she had a senior canine sibling who simply wasn’t interested in keeping up with a playful puppy all day long. Her family wanted to give Iris a healthy outlet where she could burn energy, make friends, and continue learning during one of the most important stages of her development.

Every Puppy Starts Somewhere

When Iris first joined Enrichment Daycare, she was curious about the other dogs—but also a little unsure of herself.

She wanted to play, but she didn’t quite know how.

Rather than jumping confidently into the action, Iris often hesitated, watching the other dogs before cautiously joining in. That’s perfectly normal for many young puppies as they begin learning the social “rules” of dog-to-dog interaction.

Just like children, puppies need opportunities to practice.

Learning Through Positive Experiences

Our Puppy Enrichment Daycare is designed to provide those opportunities in a safe, structured environment.

Instead of overwhelming young dogs with large groups, we introduce them to carefully matched playmates and age-appropriate activities that encourage confidence while reinforcing healthy behaviors.

For Iris, that meant learning:

• When to take breaks and respect another dog’s boundaries
• How to become comfortable in new environments

Today, Iris is a completely different dog than the timid puppy who first walked through our doors.

She happily joins her friends, engages in healthy play, and approaches each daycare day with excitement. Watching her personality blossom has been one of the greatest rewards for our team.

The playful spirit she always had is still there—but now it’s paired with confidence, better communication skills, and the ability to comfortably interact with dogs of different personalities and play styles.
